I disagree with the labels Fiscal or Social Conservative applied to anyone. Bobby Bright is not a Conservative. Fiscal Conservative, Social Liberal = Spends less than a real Liberal, does not support traditional American values. Social Conservative, Fiscal Liberal = Supports traditional American values, Spends more than a real Conservative. Real Conservative = Supports traditional American values and spends as little of taxpayer dollars as absolutely necessary on Constitutionally authorized expenditures. Martha Roby apparently has no position since she is silent. |

I'm not certain about Bright, but I know our Rep., Artur Davis plays this game, too. The fact remains that no matter where a person appears to be on the left-right scale, you have to take into account where they are on the authoritarian/libertarian scale. Both are big government guys. That makes them authoritarians, or anti-liberty.
Americans can support their own traditional values, and have done so for a long time without any government interference. Where we mess up is using government as a tool of social change, when WE are supposed to be the social change, if we want it. |
